In today’s lesson we’ll discuss one of the best sounding chord substitutions in jazz: the relative minor substitutions, also called modal sequencing. It consists of a series of minor chords a minor third (=3 semitones) apart, used whenever you’re playing a 2-5-1 progression. Done right, it can really make you sound advanced! This is used by players from Bill Evans to Anomalie and many, many others. I hope you enjoy!
